Old Center Elementary School Compact Title 1 Schoolwide Project 2008-2009
The Old Center Elementary School staff, parents, and students will work jointly as partners to foster a positive learning environment. This compact has been jointly developed with parents and describes shared school and family responsibilities for improving academic achievement. Our signatures indicate agreement to form a partnership to help children achieve the standards and fulfill this compact to the best of our abilities.
As a school staff we will:
Provide a safe/supportive environment that promotes learning.
Show respect with words and actions to each child and his/her family.
Have high expectations of ourselves and our students.
Communicate frequently with parents about their child's progress.
Schedule an annual parent/teacher conference to discuss the compact as well as the academic and behavioral progress of each student.
Provide appropriate homework to reinforce and practice skills that have been taught at school.
Provide opportunities for parents to volunteer, participate, and observe in their child's classroom.
Provide a supportive and effective learning environment which enables students to achieve both the district and state standards.
As a parent/guardian I will:
See that my child attends school regularly and on time.
Read and respond to school communications.
Schedule times to come to the school to discuss concerns and interests.
Read to or have my child read daily.
Show respect with my words and actions to my child, other children , their families, and school staff.
Provide a place for completing homework and check to see that all work is completed and returned to school on time.
Communicate regularly with the school about any changes in address and /or phone numbers.
Communicate regularly and work with the school to encourage my child's learning and positive behavior.
As a student I will:
Be responsible for my actions and behavior each day.
Listen, do my work, and learn.
Respect the feelings, property, and rights of others.
Be a good citizen by doing what is right because it is the right thing for me to do for others and myself.
