Parents, staff, and students of Old Center will work together as partners to ensure the best possible education for all students. This includes working together to plan, design, implement, and evaluate the educational programs at Old Center Elementary.
To accomplish this goal, Old Center Elementary will do the following:
1. Host an annual Open House at the beginning of the school year. At this meeting,
questions and concerns will be addressed and teachers will hold informative
sessions in their classrooms concerning expectations of students.
2.Provide parents a description and explanation of the school's curriculum, forms of academic assessment used to measure student progress and proficiency levels students are expected to meet.
3. Encourage parents to volunteer, observe, serve on committees, and participate in their child's class and during school activities.
4. Provide parents with frequent reports about their child's progress.
5. Conduct at least one parent-teacher conference to discuss and interpret individual progress and the Student-Parent-School Compact. Make an effort to meet with parents when requested by appointment. Meetings can be held in person, by telephone, and /or electronic mail.
7. Provide strategies for parents that will assist them while supporting educational experiences at home. A variety of parent training sessions will be held with flexible scheduling.
8. Send home weekly newsletters providing information concerning school activities and provide timely information in the form of notes home, daily behavior folders, and/or agendas.
9. Present information regarding the Title 1 Program at an annual meeting and provide parents and staff an opportunity to evaluate the Title 1 program and offer input regarding its implementation.
